About Dorset Brewing Company

Dorset Brewing Company was founded in 1996, when Giles Smeath restored an 800-year-old brewing tradition to the Dorset port of Weymouth in the heart of the World Heritage Coastline (the Jurassic Coast).

Set in the beautiful, historic county of Dorset, this well-loved and respected family brewery has grown in size and stature. From its humble beginnings at the historic Devenish & Groves site in Weymouth, Dorset Brewing Company (aka DBC) relocated in 2011 to Crossways and upgraded to a state-of-the-art spring water-fed brewhouse (The Jurassic Brewhouse), capable of crafting 2 million pints a year. Striving to produce an individual product representing the very best of Dorset, DBC are leading the way with our popular Jurassic Coast brands as well as some fantastic limited edition craft ales. Our friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated team, who all have a huge passion for real ale, have worked hard to put DBC firmly on the map; establishing it as a force to be reckoned with! The loyalty and support of both family members and staff ensures our emphasis is always on quality ales and excellent personal customer care.

What's in store for 2024?

2020 was our 25th anniversary year but Covid restrictions sadly forced us to temporarily close the taproom. 2023 saw the re-opening on Fridays from 4pm til 10.30pm for everyone who fancies a beer at the bar or a crate to take home. We've added a programme of live music and street caterers fortnightly on a Friday so keep an eye on our events page for details which will also appear in our Facebook feed. Dogs are very welcome! We have a lovely outside space for anyone who fancies a balmy summer's evening in the sunshine drinking a lovely chilled pint or two. We will be showing most sporting events on the Big Screen. Brewery tours are weekly on Fridays from 3 pm til 4 pm (why not stay around afterwards and enjoy a pint or two in the Taproom with our regulars?) - please see our bookable calendar for available dates. The brewery shop is also open Mon - Fri 9 am til 5 pm so you can pop in and pick up a beer growler, bottles or 5L, 10L or 20L Bag in Boxes and merch for the weekend. The Taproom is also available for private hire. We will be working more and more on our taproom and adding to our events list as the year moves forward.
